Position Summary:

Provides operational financial leadership across a portfolio of hospitals, supporting the regional CFO, ensuring effective day-to-day financial management, labor oversight, and performance monitoring across multiple facilities. This role is responsible for execution of financial processes, oversight of Financial Analysts, and direct engagement with departments across the region to monitor performance, address variances, and support financial and operational alignment. Works closely with the regional CFO to escalate risks, support decision-making, and drive performance improvement across assigned facilities.

Responsibilities

Financial Operations and Performance Management:

  • Oversees day-to-day financial operations across assigned hospitals, ensuring accurate monitoring of performance, variances, and key financial drivers.
  • Serves as the primary finance contact for hospital leadership and departments, supporting performance management and operational decision-making.
  • Monitors financial performance and partners with operational leaders to address variances, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive results.
  • Educates and trains department managers on financial concepts, including income statement review, labor management, and productivity expectations.
  • Supports development and execution of budgets and forecasts in alignment with regional and system objectives while escalating risks and performance gaps to the Regional CFO.

 

Labor and Productivity Oversight:

  • Monitors labor performance across departments, including productivity, premium pay, overtime, and contract labor utilization.
  • Partners with department leaders to align staffing with patient volumes, operational needs, and financial targets.
  • Supports development and execution of labor action plans to address variances and improve performance.
  • Ensures consistent application of labor management practices and expectations across departments within the region.

 

Financial Analysis and Decision Support:

  • Leads financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend identification, and performance monitoring across departments and service lines.
  • Supports development of pro formas and business cases for new initiatives, programs, and capital investments.
  • Translates financial data into clear, actionable insights for hospital and operational leadership.
  • Supports Regional CFO and hospital leadership in evaluating financial and operational decisions

 

Month-End Close and Reporting:

  • Coordinates and supports the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
  • Reviews financial statements and reports for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Supports preparation and delivery of financial reports to hospital leadership.
  • Ensures alignment with system reporting requirements and timelines.

 

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provides oversight and direction to Financial Analysts, ensuring quality, accuracy, and consistency of work.
  • Prioritizes and manages workload across analysts to align with regional needs and priorities.
  • Supports development of analytical capabilities, financial acumen, and professional growth within the team.

Systems, Standardization, and Process Improvement:

  • Supports standardization of financial processes, tools, and reporting across assigned hospitals.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in financial processes.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education:          

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Five (5) years of progressive financial experience required, preferably in healthcare; experience supporting hospital operations or multiple departments preferred.
