Position Summary:

To accept assignment to any work station where patients are received and registered.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patients for diagnostic examination.
  • Pulls patient's films and reports, refiling after use.
  • Assists outpatients in "gowning" prior to x-ray procedures.
  • Receives incoming telephone calls and directs to appropriate department personnel.
  • Performs clerical duties as related to department.
  • Assists physicians in locating films, reports and folders.
  • NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintains clean and orderly work area; and other duties as assigned.
  • HEALTH/SAFETY/COMPETENCE: Cannot pose a direct threat to health or safety of self or others. Must provide safe, efficient, competent care to customer or patient population assigned.  Must demonstrate competency of the unit specific functions described in the performance continuum, skill lists and/or standards. 

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

A high school diploma is required and must be able to type a minimum of forty-five words per minute.  Familiarity with computers is preferred.  Must be familiar with medical terminology; must be able to read with comprehension and write legibly; must be knowledgeable in proper use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and be capable of performing simple arithmetic calculations.  For staff involved in the care of age-specific groups, knowledge of the bio-psychosocial needs of adult, geriatric and pediatric patients is essential.  Special knowledge is required in growth and development needs of pediatric/geriatric patients where applicable.

 

Minimum Experience:

Previous office or related medical experience preferred.  Employee will receive appropriate on-the-job training in departmental procedures.
