Position Summary:

Greets arriving patients and visitors.  Directs or escorts patients to the appropriate areas.  Escorts patients to their destination in a wheelchair if necessary.   Provides room numbers for visitors and directs to the proper elevator.  Locates room numbers for incoming phones calls and transfers call to room. Liaison between families in surgery waiting area, hospital staff and physicians.  Makes sure coffee is available for waiting families and helps maintain the appearance of their work area.  Escorts family members to consultation rooms to meet with physicians when necessary.  Position reports to the Coordinator of Consumer Services.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to patients, visitors and family members in a courteous manner. Keeps them informed regarding patients in surgery, recovery, cath lab and endoscopy.
  • Locates family members for physicians after surgery if necessary.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:          

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.  Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.
