Position Summary:

Provide total receptionist coverage for the information desk and timely and correct information to the customer. 

Responsibilities

  • Answers multi-lined telephones and relays messages;
  • Greets customers;
  • Obtains patient information from the computer system;
  • Supplies patient's room number, patient's condition (if available) and other appropriate information;
  • Provides directions to all locations in medical center when requested by customers;
  • Provides current information regarding patient census;
  • Organizes patient transfers and discharges;
  • Responds to customer needs; refers problems to customer service manager;
  • Establishes unit and office supply needs and maintains supplies.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

A high school education or its equivalent is required.  Must be able to read with comprehension and write legibly.  Course work or on-the-job experience in use of computer keyboard, multi-lined telephones, filing and general office procedures is required.  Must demonstrate skill at using desk top software, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphics applications as required.

 

EXPERIENCE: 

Three to four years of experience in a receptionist position is preferred.  Word processing experience is preferred.

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:  

None is required.
