Position Summary:

Works under the general supervision of the manager of the central pack program. Supports the department by preparing, sterilizing and providing custom procedure packs according to prescribed procedures and aseptic techniques. Maintains a clean environment and sufficient inventory to complete requests and dispense first quality sterile custom procedure packs to our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Performs functions of Assembly Tech I as needed or directed.
  • Proper use and operation of sealing equipment per validation standard for header bags and sterilization bags
  • Proper placement of sterilization components, biological indicator, gas cartridge, and humid chips per department standard.
  • Responsible for sterilization history and tracking of sterilization components as part of the Device History Record.
  • Responsible for tracking of positive biological indicators and production of monthly graph for Quality Assurance.
  • Proper cleaning and monitoring of direct impact equipment per department protocol, including Teflon tape exchange on sealing equipment.
  • Ensure proper operation of sterilization equipment, not limited to automatic cycle, but involving manual control cycle when needed and any analytical/problem solving of said equipment.
  • Accountable for Biological Indicator Testing and Review following manufacturer recommendations and department validation process.
  • Ensure proper procedure and documentation of reprocessing product.
  • Supports department by attending all mandatory in-services and staff meetings
  • Responsible for supporting and upholding a high ethical standard with respect to business and professional conduct while in the employment of Covenant Health.
  • Responsible for endorsing, supporting and exemplifying the vision, values and purpose statement of covenant Health and the CH Sterile Solutions department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:           

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.  Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Must have minimum 1 (one) year experience as Assembly Tech I and pass Competency Exam
