Position Summary:

Coordinate the daily functions of the Respiratory Care department.  Emphasis will be on coordination and communication among Respiratory Care Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assures quality and diversity of Respiratory Care with guidance from the Medical Director.
  • Assesses and provides feedback on decentralized clinical team approach.
  • Facilitate TEAM development and implementation of long/short term goals and plans of decentralized functions.
  • Develop communication network for all Respiratory Care teams.
  • In conjunction with necessary departments, coordinate clinical competence of all personnel performing respiratory care procedures.
  • Develop and implement clinical policy and procedure as related to protocols and pathways.
  • Promote cultural change to develop and support the team approach to deliver patient care in the Clinical division.
  • Facilitate development of success measures, to include leadership, facilitator and team member implementation of long and short term goals for department teams.
  • Develop, review and update department specific policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain department compliance to meet all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Provide personnel management to include staff placement, discipline, interviewing and orientation in conjunction with the Director.
  • Implement and assess individual/team performance appraisal and career ladder.
  • Assure daily operations are performed to include: staffing, interdisciplinary meetings, department statistics, payroll, charges, and inventory.
  • Assess capital equipment/supply needs and make recommendations in collaboration with the Director.
  • Act as a liaison to patients and other customers to provide timely and accurate communication and problem resolution.
  • Act as a primary contact of vendors for product evaluation and recommendation.
  • Determine and coordinate daily staffing ratios based on workload and staff.
  • Participates in technical and philosophical growth and development.
  • Coordinates and affirms accuracy of department record keeping.
  • Acts as a MIS liaison as requested.
  • Collaborates with the Director to identify learning needs of staff, ensure participation and evaluate clinical competency.
  • Participate in development and implementation of education and in-service programs for staff, students and other departments.
  • Collaborate with others to determine product standardization as needed.
  • Maintain department and clinical functions through team based employee empowerment.
  • Supports creativity, independent thinking, empowerment and flexibility among team members.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.  Completes required education assignments annually.  Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:                       

Associate's degree preferred.

 

Minimum Experience:                     

At least four (4) years of respiratory care experience and two (2) years managerial experience.

 

Required Licensure:                        

Current Tennessee license and NBRC credentials. CPR required.
