Infrastructure Engineer, IT Technical Services

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Position Summary: 

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the technical implementation and management of server and infrastructure technologies within Covenant Health. This role involves extensive hands-on work with advanced server technologies, hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI), virtualized desktops, load balancers, and other critical infrastructure components. The Infrastructure Engineer collaborates with various IT teams to integrate and maintain infrastructure solutions, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

Responsibilities

Technical Implementation

  • Design, implement, and manage advanced server technologies, including Windows and Linux servers.
  • Implement and manage hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) solutions, particularly Nutanix.
  • Configure and manage virtualized desktop environments using Citrix or Azure Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
  • Deploy and manage load balancers to ensure optimal distribution of network traffic.
  • Implement and manage storage solutions, including SAN and NAS systems.

Infrastructure Operations

  • Monitor, detect, and respond to infrastructure issues, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Conduct regular performance assessments and capacity planning to ensure infrastructure scalability.
  • Lead the technical response to infrastructure incidents, coordinating with the incident response team to determine root cause, resolve issues, and permanently remediate.
  • Configure and support identity and access management (IAM) systems to ensure secure access to infrastructure resources.
  •  Monitor and enhance system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely. Continually promote and implement continuous performance improvement. 

 Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including HIPAA.
  • Develop and implement infrastructure strategies to support organizational goals and protect sensitive data.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with other IT teams to ensure security measures are integrated into systems and applications.
  • Provide training and support to staff on cybersecurity best practices and emerging threats.

Documentation

  • Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations, protocols, and incident reports.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to server environment. 
  • Stay current with the latest infrastructure trends and technologies, recommending improvements to existing solutions.

Infrastructure Audits

  • Support routine and irregular infrastructure audits to ensure compliance with policies and standards.

Infrastrucucture Standards and Policies

  • Draft and update infrastructure standards and policies to ensure they meet the latest industry’s best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of change management procedures.

Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Review and optimize maintenance windows to maximize operational efficiency

Infrastructure Strategy

  • Support and assist the implementation of the infrastructure strategy.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, including backup and restore procedures.
  • Assist with the building of long-term roadmaps and set milestones for future growth and scalability.

Project Managment

  • Support and manage IT projects to improve infrastructure capability, resiliency, and performance. 

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support and guidance to users and other IT staff, as needed. 
  • Provide Tier 2 & 3 support to internal IT staff and external vendors as needed.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:           

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a directly-related field from an accredited college or university.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Minimum of five years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with a proven track record in designing and implementing infrastructure solutions within an enterprise environment.
