Position Summary:

Responsible for the analysis of clinical outcomes and care delivery processes for selected patient populations.  Patient populations may be unit-based, derived from clinical pathways, or determined by diagnosis.  Works closely with Care Coordinators, Information Systems specialists, physicians, and other staff to derive meaningful information that has clinical relevance.  Functions as facilitator/team member of process improvement teams.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts ongoing and special studies of defined patient populations and analyzes data using appropriate analytical or statistical techniques. Communicates data to appropriate entities/committees/departments.
  • Assists in the improvement of patient care by using data to generate meaningful information regarding clinical outcomes and the processes of care delivery.
  • Participates collaboratively and effectively with administrative, nursing, medical, ancillary, and support personnel in process improvement teams at all levels of the organization: intra-departmental, inter-departmental, and inter-entity.
  • Ensures the quality, integrity, and appropriateness of data collection techniques and of data used for analysis.
  • Presents pertinent data in a variety of forums: medical staff, nursing, clinical support, and others as requested; aids in appropriate interpretation of data.
  • Works closely with the chairs of medical staff quality subcommittees or medical staff departments to ensure the flow of information about quality and process improvement to the medical staff.
  • Supports the medical staff credentialing process by collection and analysis of appropriate data concerning physician practice.
  • Educates employees on the tools and principles of process improvement and statistical analysis.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Local travel required.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:           

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Three to four (3-4) years of experience as an RN in general nursing.

 

Licensure Requirement:      

Current Tennessee RN license. Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage.  Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
