Position Summary:

Highly skilled and experienced nursing professional responsible for providing expertise and strategic oversight to clinical nursing practices in area of expertise.  This role involves improving patient outcomes, promoting evidence-based practices, and ensuring the alignment of clinical nursing standards with organizational goals.  The CPS will collaborate with various departments across the enterprise, including leadership teams, clinical teams, and healthcare providers, to enhance the quality of care, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to the development of nursing policies at the enterprise level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical guidance and support to clinical and nursing teams across multiple healthcare facilities. Leads initiatives aimed at improving patient care practices and nursing interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality improvement programs to enhance patient safety, improve patient outcomes, and optimize clinical processes in alignment with evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate clinical nursing policies and protocols that align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals.
  • Design and deliver advanced clinical education programs to nursing and clinical staff across the organization. Support nurse managers, educators, and staff in clinical decision-making and complex patient care.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through the integration of evidence-based practices into daily nursing care routines.
  • Serve as a consultant to clinical departments on complex patient care issues. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, allied health professionals, and administrative staff, to improve organizational clinical performance.
  • Work closely with leadership teams to develop strategic goals related to clinical nursing practice in area of expertise. Advocate for innovative nursing practices and technologies to improve the quality and efficiency of care.
  • Ensure that nursing practices across the organization are in compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
  • Gather analytics to assess the effectiveness of clinical practices and quality initiatives. Provide reports and recommendations to senior leadership regarding clinical performance trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborates in the development and assignment of initial and ongoing competency assessments.
  • Facilitates the clinical onboarding, education, and training of nursing new hires.
  • Teaches content within their clinical expertise with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge.
  • Maintains education documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Evaluates annual employee competency and credentialing needs to effectively initiate educational opportunities and programs as needed.
  • Assists in nursing orientation as needed; designs content in accordance with regulatory and quality measures.
  • Serves on designated committees as assigned.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:           

Bachelor of Science in nursing or healthcare-related field required.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Three (3) years of nursing experience with relative experience in designated area.

 

Licensure Requirement:     

  Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN licensure.
