Service Line Consultant, Clinical Quality

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Position Summary:

As a service line consultant, provides service line analytical, operational and business insights to executive leadership as well as forecasting expected future performance as a result of internal or external changes.  Involves extensive work with executive and physician leaders at the facility and corporate level. Functions as an integral resource and advisor to service line operational teams.   Identifies performance gaps and contributes to improvement and optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement for designated service lines across Covenant and serves as communicator and change agent to achieve improved results.
  • Employs advanced skills in data analytics and strong working ability in statistical analysis.
  • In consultation with physicians and other subject matter experts, develops analyses to be used across Covenant to evaluate ongoing performance and for well-focused opportunity identification.
  • Provides expertise in identification of clinically appropriate cost saving opportunities across service lines.
  • Provides a strong knowledge base of service lines and their clinical components, including pertinent clinical quality measures.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory and economic changes and new trends in service lines and assesses their potential impact on operations.
  • Develops positive collaborative relationships with service line constituents including service line administration, physicians, and facility leadership resulting in well informed strategies and deployment of service line initiatives.
  • Serves as training resource and provides guidance to other consultants.
  • Prepares effective consultation reports and presentations and makes presentations to groups including system service line meetings, executive leadership, facility medical staff meetings, and operational teams to communicate key consultant findings, opportunities, and service line goals.
  • Coordinates with Information Technology staff as needed to develop and optimize system-wide access and use of analytical data and information for service lines.
  • Attends professional/society/business meetings. Participates in in-house training and development activities including service on system-wide administrative and operational committees. Maintains a high degree of on-the-job developmental activities regarding system policies and administrative requirements.  Maintains professional growth through continuing education and attending workshops, seminars, conferences, and classes.
  • Maintains and communicates analysis standards for Covenant Health. Promotes the adoption of consistent practices system-wide. Communicates and guides business units on appropriate financial analysis standards to maintain consistency in financial reporting across business units.
  • Interacts with all business units and corporate executives on related duties.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:             

Masters degree in Health Care Administration, Business or Finance, or related discipline from an accredited academic program.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Four (4+) years or more of related experience.  Advanced demonstrated analytical, numerical, and computer capabilities.  Requires strong human relations and communication skills.  Health care experience preferred.
