Full time, 72 Hours Per pay Period, Night shift

Some weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule. There are On-Call requirements.

Labor & Delivery

Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System has been named a “Best for Babies” hospital by the Tennessee Hospital Association and Tennessee State Department of Health. The Women’s Center at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System provides comprehensive, family-centered care with labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum (LDRP) suites. The experienced staff is trained to care for a wide variety of patients ranging from normal labor to high-risk mothers.

 

Position Summary:

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis. Evaluates care outcomes.
  • Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
  • Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  • Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs and sitters.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: 

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:

New graduate, within first (1st) year of orientation (move to level II after one (1) year experience).

 

Licensure Requirement:      

Must have and maintain Tennessee RN license and CPR. ACLS, NRP, STABLE and Fetal Monitoring within 6 months of hire.
