Position Summary: 

Under general guidance of the EVP of Operations, provides leadership and direct operations of the Cardiac Service Line across Covenant Health to assure accomplishment of system established goals and objectives. Responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Cardiac Service Line strategic plan. Works collaboratively with other system leaders in the development of operational strategies and objectives and implements related policies and procedures. Responsible for the design of organizational units and the allocation of resources. Responsible for maintaining and growing the revenue and profitability of cardiac services across the system. Works closely with local facility leadership regarding human resource activities including hiring, motivating, and retention of staff. Works with the various physician leaders including Medical Directors in planning, developing, and implementing cardiac programs. Responsible for setting standards of quality for individual and group performance. Ensures that operations are carried out within applicable laws and regulations and within the established Mission Statement.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and directs overall operation of the Cardiac Service Line including activities such as strategic planning, growing the revenue and profitability of the service line, policy development, establishment of operational objectives, analysis and evaluation of ongoing operations, developing new programs, marketing, public relations, and related administrative matters.
  • Develops and implements specific strategic plan for Cardiovascular Service Line across Covenant Health.
  • Responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures. Reviews and analyzes operations. Makes changes and revisions as appropriate. Ensures Cardiac Service Line practices are standardized and consistent across all entities and shares/leverages best practices.
  • Works closely with local operational leadership to provide input into human resources activities of the service line including: hiring and staffing, employee development, succession planning, etc. Ensures that policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Represents Covenant Health cardiovascular services in the community, in the medical community, and with other state and national organizations as appropriate. Keeps abreast of developments in healthcare field by attendance at professional meetings, etc.
  • Responsible for quality assurance activities of the service line. Ensures development of an annual quality plan and monitors operations to ensure adherence to plan. Responsible for setting standards of performance and for education of staff on quality matters. Ensures that all certifications, qualifications, and accreditation are maintained.
  • Responsible for effective interaction and communication with the service line staff, medical staff, clients, directors, and managers within service line and the appropriate hospital CAOs.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:           

Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or Hospital Administration.

 

Minimum Experience:         

At least ten (10) years of experience in healthcare environment. Experience should include a variety of increasingly complex supervisory/managerial assignments with demonstrated expertise in the management functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Requires effective communication and analytical skills. Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of management and with outside organizations and officials.
