Position Summary:
The Clinical Practice Specialist (CPS) is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates expertise in a specific area of nursing that has been further developed through Master's preparation. The CPS position is based on the needs of the patient and the health care system, and the expertise of the CPS. The CPS, under the direction of the Vice President/Director of Nursing and in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, is a leader, innovator, and change agent in pursuit of improved nursing practice and improved patient outcomes. The scope of practice encompasses the use of the nursing process in major areas: clinical practice, education, consultation, research, and leadership.

Minimum Education:
Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field. Preference for MSN.
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years’ experience in specialty if masters in related health care field, two (2) years in specialty if masters in nursing.
Licensure Requirements:
Current registration in the State of Tennessee. Valid TN nursing license. Certification in area of specialty required or must attain within 2 years. Completion of skills checklist(s) for area(s) of specialty.
