Position Summary:
The Student Medical Education Coordinator is responsible for managing and facilitating the medical education experience for students rotating through Covenant Health. This individual serves as the central point of contact for medical students, affiliated academic institutions, precepting physicians, and hospital staff, ensuring that all aspects of the educational program run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include creating rotation schedules, overseeing onboarding and orientation, and maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.
The coordinator works closely with academic institutions and directors of student medical education to align the hospital’s training programs with educational requirements, while also addressing the unique needs of medical students as they navigate their clinical training. This role requires a combination of strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and an understanding of medical education processes.
In addition to administrative duties, the Student Medical Education Coordinator ensures that medical students have a positive and productive experience by acting as a mentor and advocate. The coordinator anticipates and addresses logistical challenges, provides timely information about hospital policies and procedures, and facilitates access to necessary resources. This position is essential in fostering an environment where students can thrive academically and professionally, while contributing to Covenant Health’s mission of providing high-quality healthcare and education.

Minimum Education:
Non specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field from an accredited college or university.

Licensure Requirement:
Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
