Director of Ambulatory Services-O/N/R, Therapy Center Administration Support

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Position Summary: 

The Director for Ambulatory Services leads and manages staff responsible for the care of ambulatory patients. The Director also coordinates development of new ventures. Responsible for the coordination and development of O/N/R ambulatory services. Maintains planning and budgeting for each of these areas. Also responsible for assigned special projects and should be prepared to occasionally assume the responsibility of some or all of the administrative duties of other O/N/R Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Aids in establishing direction for O/N/R services and staff.
  • Develops strategies to produce the positive changes needed to achieve future objectives.
  • Establishes detailed steps and timetables for achieving results, and facilitates the allocation of resources necessary to achieve those results.
  • Establishes structure consistent to obtain results, including the design of systems, development of policies and procedures, and the deployment of individuals.
  • Monitors results, plans, and problem solves to improve outcomes.
  • Leads and manages operations of outpatient programs and clinics.
  • Program Development:
  • Develops business plans and coordinates the implementation of new ventures
  • Assures smooth transition from creation to ongoing operations of new clinics
  • Evaluates the viability of new ventures
  • Provides resources to assure the ongoing success of ambulatory sites
  • Monitors the success of ambulatory sites using defined criteria, and takes appropriate actions as necessary
  • Assures the consistency of standards of care and operating systems of ambulatory sites where appropriate
  • Works with Ambulatory, Fortress, Network Development, and other Health System departments to assure the on-going success of ambulatory programs.
  • Works closely with Director responsible for marketing to develop marketing plan.
  • Assures that accreditation standards are met in ambulatory programs.
  • Works with Managers and teams to monitor outcome, cost, and customer service data, and the setting and achievement of strategic goals.
  • Keeps abreast of technological advances and market changes and facilitates positive changes in accordance with these trends.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health professionals to improve service in areas of responsibility.
  • Works with payers and physicians to ensure the information needed is readily available and accessible.
  • Communicates effectively to internal and external customer groups.
  • Works closely with other Directors to assure integrity of marketing, financial, and information system plans.
  • Leads or participates in special projects.
  • Provides prompt and efficient access to care in areas of responsibility.
  • Provides direct supervision of Managers, enabling them and their staff to implement change.
  • Works with Managers in maintaining orientation, education, and competency of staff.
  • Recruits, retains, and oversees the activities of qualified staff.
  • Works with operations team and other key Covenant Health leaders to develop action plan to obtaining preferred provider contracts.
  • Keeps abreast of legal and regulatory issues involving ONR services, provides such information to leadership and staff, and facilitates the implementation of changes needed to meet these requirements.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in related field preferred.

 

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years line and three (3) years managerial experience in related field or equivalent of educational/managerial experience.

 

Licensure Requirements: 

Current license in physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech pathology.
