Clinical Practice Specialist, Administration

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Travel to regional sites is required.

Thompson Oncology Group (TOG) is a leader in medical oncology services and provides patients access to all proven, drug-based treatments and the latest clinical trial medicines. Our team of board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologists and certified advanced practice providers deliver on-site care and treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormone therapy, at affiliated infusion centers throughout our region. 

 

Position Summary: 

Registered nurse who provides clinical and staff development expertise in a designated specialty area as an educator, leader, consultant, facilitator, change agent, and researcher. Supports the organization in the pursuit of improved nursing practice, provision of quality patient care, and improved patient outcomes by helping to ensure clinical competence of nursing staff and to foster the delivery of evidence-based nursing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the clinical onboarding, education, and training of nursing new hires.
  • Collaborates in the development and assignment of initial and ongoing competency assessments.
  • Conducts systematic and ongoing learning needs assessments within specialty and organization-wide (as appropriate) using a variety of techniques and sources.
  • Identifies educational objectives based on assessment data, quality improvement, and regulatory/accrediting bodies' requirements.
  • Develops educational programs for nurses at all stages of their career development.
  • Teaches content within their clinical expertise with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge.
  • Conducts evaluations of assigned educational programs to determine if the purpose and objectives have been achieved and to identify areas for improvement in course design, content, and delivery.
  • Serves as a role model for education and professional practice.
  • Promotes the concept of life-long learning.
  • Participates in the evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices in collaboration with others to ensure that nursing and the organization's goals and mission are in alignment.
  • Networks throughout the organization and in the community with the goal of exchanging knowledge and expertise.
  • Collaborates with nursing and leadership to recommend educational strategies to ensure compliance with requirements and standards of external regulatory and accrediting organizations.
  • Serves as an educational consultant working with intra- and inter-disciplinary teams and facility education staff to brainstorm, problem-solve, and participate in projects relating to policy, procedure, program development and strategic planning.
  • Facilitates the adult learning process, creating a climate that supports learning across the organization.
  • Facilitates implementation of new policies, procedures, and supports organizational change.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of care and standards of practice in response to changes in nursing practice.
  • Integrates research into practice.
  • Facilitates the development of staff members' knowledge and skills in the research process and use of evidence to improve nursing practice.
  • Participates in evaluating studies for quality improvement and applicability to patient care or educational programs.
  • As applicable, assumes duties of the American Heart Association Training Center Coordinator. Responsible for coordinating all administrative aspects of the American Heart Association (AHA) approved class curriculums consistent with the AHA and Covenant Health
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from approved school of nursing preferred, or Bachelor of Science (BA) in nursing or healthcare related field.

 

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years’ experience in designated specialty area.

 

Licensure Requirement:

Must have and maintain current registration in the State of Tennessee and valid TN nursing license. Certification in area of specialty required or must attain within 2 years of hire into the job.
