Medical Device Integration Analyst Staff, IT Care Manager Support

Full time, 80 hours per pay period, Day Shift

In addition to daily work schedule, this position will also be required to take On-Call for the Bedside Medical Device Team (BMDI)

Position Summary: 

The Medical Device Integration Analyst ensures clinical and alert data from the Covenant medical devices can be integrated and effectively transferred to the Cerner EHR.  Analyst must be capable of resolving or coordinating the resolution of BMDI issues of moderate to complex technical difficulty.  Analyst must actively participates in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility for maintaining relationships with all stakeholders involved in BMDI activities.

Responsibilities

  • Experience comprehending and executing on detailed technical documentation and instructions.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Cerner BMDI infrastructure including vendor medical device compatibility and integration options.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of medical device functionality including: which clinical parameters can be provided, what those parameters mean, and how they flow into the Cerner EHR.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals for purchase of hardware, software, and technical services related to medical device integration to ensure they align with Covenant medical device timelines and goals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to take medical device integration projects from concept through final implementation. Defines project scope, objectives, and conduct project meetings (e.g. detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, status reports, support documentation).
  • Work closely with IT Application Analyst to map medical device parameters in iBus into Cerner EMR charting elements in PowerChart, FetaLink, Cerner Anesthesia, and Cerner Bridge.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and utilization of Cerner BMDI configuration and support tools required to successfully and reliable transfer medical device data across the BMDI architecture into Cerner EHR.
  • Resolve technical and customer support issues related to BMDI as appropriate.
  • Coordinate medical device support activities between IT Application, IT technical, IT Help Desk, Covenant facility BioMed, Biomed equipment vendor (e.g. GE, Nihon Kohden, etc.), and Cerner services.
  • Consults with and advises user and IT staff on BMDI data access, conflicts, and usage.
  • Devise or modify support and maintenance procedures to solve complex problems considering system capacity, limitations, operating time, and desired results.
  • Ensures adherence to Covenant IT technical and quality standards related to medical device naming and integration parameters.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:           

Associate’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience in an Information Technology support role. 

 

Minimum Experience:         

Two to four (2-4) years of experience in medical equipment integration support.
