Corporate Senior Risk Manager (Registered Nurse)

Full-Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Position Summary:

Coordinates activities related to collecting, collating, analyzing and reporting data to support a variety of system-wide risk reduction and quality improvement initiatives. Serves as a resource and consultant to the risk department and facility leaders by overseeing and identifying patterns and trends reported through the System Improvement Reports (SIRs).  Responsible for data utilization that identifies system patterns and trends and produces meaningful information that supports effective proactive risk management action.

Responsibilities

  • Uses risk goals and risk performance to promote standardization, optimal care, reduce errors and achieve organizational quality. Serves as a leader and resource for clinicians and Risk Managers throughout Covenant Health. Demonstrates sound decision making to enable system improvements.
  • Maintains risk management statistics and files in compliance with state and federal agencies and the Joint Commission. Stays abreast of current and future regulatory requirements (CMS, The Joint Commission, etc.) related to risk management functions. Summarizes changes and collaborates with key leaders and stakeholders in the design/redesign of processes to support such requirements. 
  • Provides business analysis of risk data to reduce operating losses and maintain maximum protection of the organization’s assets.
  • Develops tools to assist with various risk management processes including identification and analysis of incident and loss information.
  • Assists with data extraction and uses report writing software to group data appropriately for meaningful report development.
  • Analyzes patterns and variances in order to identify opportunities for system-wide risk reduction.
  • Develops proactive system wide risk reduction/performance improvement action plans, assists with implementation and evaluates results for desired outcomes.
  • Collaborates with key leaders and stakeholders to develop plans to affect change in risk performance and outcomes. Reports outcomes to CNOs, CAOs and other Leaders as applicable.
  • Provides risk related support to facility departments by performing analysis to identify event trends in order to develop plans and processes to reduce harm and improve patient outcomes. 
  • Provides applicable educational material for training opportunities to continually enhance the knowledge base of clinical staff across the organization based on learning needs. May present educational materials to employee groups as applicable.
  • Assists in sharing/integrating best practices within Covenant Health through monitoring and analysis of root cause analysis (RCA) lessons learned. Develops and distributes cross facility learnings to applicable departments throughout the system on a recurring basis.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:   

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:   

An equivalent combination of education and experience as evidenced by the possession of a RN, Bachelor’s degree in nursing, business administration, health administration, public health, education, or directly related field and four (4) years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical health care environment and two (2) years of  experience in management; risk management; or similarly responsible position may be accepted in lieu of the above indicated education and experience requirements.

 

Licensure Requirement:     

Must have a valid Tennessee RN license.
