In addition to the original downtown location, there are TCSC facilities in West Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Sevierville, and Morristown.

Position Summary: 

Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating nutrition programs for the TCSC patients and their families.  Assesses the nutritional status of patients entering TCSC treatment programs and performs regular follow up on these patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Manager with formulation of department policy and procedures and goals and objectives regarding focus of nutrition care for patients undergoing cancer treatment at TCSC.
  • Formulate goals and objectives for individual patients and families to foster improved nutrition status of patients.
  • Establish a routine nutrition screening tool for use with all TCSC patients.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate a nutritional assessment protocol for those patients identified in the routine screening as being at risk or having some degree of malnutrition.
  • Document patient/family nutrition needs in a concise manner.
  • Communicate the nutritional support patient care plan to other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
  • Participate with departmental staff to assist with Patient and Family Services initial patient screenings.
  • Assist with the coordination of educational programs for school-age children regarding preventive healthcare behaviors.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:

Previous clinical nutrition work experience with history of self-directed activities.

 

Licensure Requirements: 

Registered with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Must successfully complete registration exam (RD) and maintain credentials.
