Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to join the Finance team of a large healthcare system. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills. The Accounting Manager will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and support the organization’s financial goals.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

   - Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

   - Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and standards.

   - Coordinate and manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.

 

General Ledger Management

   - Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.

   - Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations.

   - Oversees maintenance of the chart of accounts.

 

Budgeting and Forecasting

   - Assist in the preparation and analysis of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.

   - Monitor budget performance and report variances to senior management.

 

Audit and Compliance

   - Coordinate and manage internal and external audits.

   - Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.

   - Implement and maintain effective accounting policies and procedures.

 

Team Leadership

   - Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support for professional development.

   - Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

   - Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.

 

Financial Analysis:

   - Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes and in support of facility CFOs.

   - Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and efficiency.

   - Liaison with leaders within the system and lead a team of accountants and analysts in providing

     reporting and responses to inquiries.

   - Support key customers in a variety of facilities and corporate departments.

 

Systems Management

   - Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of accounting systems.

   - Ensure the accuracy and functionality of financial reporting software.

 

Other

   - Completes required education assignments annually.

   - Assists VP Controller and Director of Finance in performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's in accounting required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.

 

Minimum Experience:

Six (6+) or more years of professional accounting experience including two (2+) or more years supervisory experience. Requires fundamental knowledge of accounting principles and practices as well as thorough knowledge of system-wide procedures and policies relating to finance. Strong demonstrated analytical, numerical and computer capabilities. Requires effective human relations and strong communication skills.

- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting; healthcare experience preferred.

- Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- High level of integrity and professionalism.
