Manager of Imaging Department

Position Summary:  Is accountable for the delivery of high quality patient care and for the administrative management of the Cardiac Cath & Electrophysiology units; responsible for the preparation of departmental operations budget, capital equipment budget.  Supervises all staffing issues and is responsible for the recruitment and hiring of new staff.  Implement and revise department policies and procedures in collaboration and under the guidance of appropriate facility and system resources.  Assist in the planning and budgeting for the Cardiac Cath & EP Services, as well as direct all staff annual performance evaluations.  Assist with strategic planning; fulfills all duties and responsibilities associated with the management position.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, trains, orients, develop and evaluate performance of the department staff. Ensures staffing mix and allocation in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement initiatives, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Supervise scheduling for services, which includes recognition of patient, staffing, and physician issues related to the schedules.
  • Develops departmental budgets. Administers operations in accordance with budgeted parameters.
  • Maintains operational reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Coordinates and reports outcome of nursing activities performed on behalf of the patient.
  • Collaborates with administration and medical staff to identify and improve efficiency in service to patients and physicians.
  • Facilitates process improvement activities and provision of required clinical instruction to meet physician and patient needs.
  • Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care utilizing evidenced based practices.
  • Insures equipment is maintained according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Insures timeliness and integrity of exam performance to include charges, interpretation, transcription and report delivery.
  • Supervises, institutes, and evaluates nursing interventions and documentation.
  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective.
  • Facilitates professional development of staff with accountability for staff retention.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:  Graduate of a JRCERT School of Radiological Technology, or Certified in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Ultrasound Technology, or CVST; bachelor's degree preferred.

 

Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of recent clinical experience. 

 

Licensure Requirement:  Any of the following:  ARRT, CNMT, RDMS, RDCS, MRI, CVST. CPR (BLS) required.
