PRN/OCC, Variable Hours & Shifts

1-2 days/week. (7hour days)

Position Summary:

Assesses individual diet habits, counsels on diet modifications, and provides nutritional education to referred patients with chronic diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Documents all relevant aspects of nutritional care for patients in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Performs nutritional assessments as determined.
  • Attends health care team meetings regularly to discuss patient care needs.
  • Educates patients on long term nutritional care through individual counseling, group classes and community speaking engagements.
  • Updates nutrition education materials and lesson plans on a regular basis.
  • Serves as an educational resource to nursing and medical personnel.
  • Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains department records, reports and files as required.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. Bachelor's degree preferred.

 

Minimum Experience: 

One (1) year ADA approved experience or MS Nutrition plus six (6) months ADA approved experience

 

Licensure Requirements:

Registered with the American Dietetic Association.  Must successfully complete registration exam (RD) and maintain credentials.
