Position Summary:

Supervises clinical staff in conjunction with performing clinician duties in a role model methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily work assignments and prepares schedule for clinical staff.
  • Monitors staffing of each shift to ensure adequate number of personnel are scheduled to provide patient care.
  • Assists with collection of quality assurance data.
  • Provides direct communication to staff and management.
  • Available to clinical staff as consultant and resource person.
  • Evaluates patients as related to therapy; communicates results to other therapists, nursing staff and physicians when evaluation indicates need for change in treatment.
  • Assumes responsibility of mentoring respiratory staff and orientation of new employees on shift worked.
  • In conjunction with necessary departments, coordinate clinical competence of all personnel performing respiratory care procedures.
  • Performs assigned tasks and uses equipment with skill and accuracy.
  • Maintains clean work area.
  • Conducts in-service education under the direction of the manager.
  • Provide personnel management to include staff placement, discipline, interviewing and orientation in conjunction with the Manager. Assist with performance appraisals and goal setting
  • Assists with monitoring and maintaining department compliance to meet all regulatory agency requirements
  • Act as a liaison to patients and other customers to provide timely and accurate communication and problem resolution
  • Collaborates with the Manager / Director to identify learning needs of staff, ensure participation and evaluate clinical competency.
  • Collaborate with others to determine product standardization as needed.
  • Assists with daily operations including: interdisciplinary meetings, department statistics, payroll, charges, and supply / equipment inventory.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:

A minimum of three (3) years' clinical experience.

 

Licensure Requirement:

Licensed in the State of Tennessee as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with ABG endorsement, and valid RRT credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care is required.
