Position Summary:

Monitors nutritional care, manages physician ordered therapeutic diets and provides nutritional education to patients.  Directs, supervises and coordinates diet office activities.

Responsibilities

  • Documents all relevant aspects of nutritional care for patients in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Performs nutritional assessments as determined. Requests patient food preferences and prepares patient diets on a daily basis.          
  • Attends health care team meetings regularly to discuss patient care needs.
  • Educates patients on long term nutritional care through individual discussions, group classes and community speaking engagements.
  • Writes modified diets and coordinates diet adaptations with house menus. Charts diets in medical records.
  • Serves as an educational resource to nursing and medical personnel.
  • Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains department records, reports and files as required.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:

One (1) year ADA approved experience or MS Nutrition plus six (6) months ADA approved experience

           

Licensure Requirement: 

Registered with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Must successfully complete registration exam (RD) and maintain credentials.
