Position Summary:

Serves as Chief Administrative Officer of the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine departments.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns, supervises and directs work activities of department personnel ensuring efficient and effective flow of work throughout departments.
  • Monitors/assists with patient services and schedules staff to ensure 24-hour coverage of hospital by radiology department.
  • Maintains quarterly records of radiation exposure through monitoring of film badges.
  • Recommends equipment modification, new equipment and essential construction within the departments.
  • Responsible for existing equipment and such contractual services as may be required.
  • Coordinate departmental purchases and maintains stock level, storage and utilization.
  • Provides for recruitment, selection and training of new employees.
  • Provides for continuing education, staff development and performance continuum.
  • Instructs/demonstrates any difficult or new techniques and procedures to technical staff.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:          

A bachelor's degree in radiologic science or related area, or equivalent experience, is required. Must have comprehensive knowledge of radiologic technology.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Must have a minimum of six (6) years of radiology experience, two (2) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or other combinations of education and experience judged to be equivalent. For staff involved in the care of age-specific groups, knowledge of the bio-psychosocial needs of adult, geriatric and pediatric patients is essential. Special knowledge is required in growth and development needs of pediatric/geriatric patients where applicable.

 

Licensure Requirement:      

Must be currently registered as a radiological technologist by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists OR hold a current CRA certification through the Radiology Administration Certification Commission (AHRA).
