Morristown Regional Cancer Center, a part of Covenant Health, is currently seeking a full-time Medical Dosimetrist. Our team uses advanced tools such as Eclipse, Velocity, Mosaiq, and Radformation products. The primary job responsibilities involve delivering external beam radiation therapy in 3D, IMRT, VMAT, and SBRT formats using a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator. The successful candidate will join a team comprising a senior medical physicist, a junior dosimetrist, and a radiation oncologist. As part of the larger Covenant Health Medical Physics Team, which is expanding to include 14 medical physicists and 12 medical dosimetrists, the candidate will have opportunities to work on 9 linacs, 3 HDR systems, 1 GammaKnife, and an IBA Proton Therapy facility. This role offers the benefits of learning best practices from an experienced team, while working in a small group environment.

 

Position Summary:

Assists Medical Physicist in providing accurate and timely Dosimetry treatment planning and dose calculation. Performs quality assurance procedures according to established standards and practices. Provides interface and continuity between CT, MRI, Medical Physics, Simulation, and Treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate tracking of the dose delivered versus dose prescription for all patients.
  • Plans treatment techniques by means of computer and/or manual calculations, with follow up to ensure actual verses planned treatments.
  • Performs patient’s dose calculations in radiation therapy chart-verify the mathematical accuracy.
  • Performs dose calculations for all brachytherapy procedures, including implants.
  • Assists Radiation Therapist in implementation of treatment plan.
  • Assists Medical Physicist in planning and fabrication of custom shields and immobilization devices.
  • Provides assistance and technical guidance to Simulator Technologist for complicated setups.
  • Assists the Medical Physicist in machine calibrations and quality assurance.
  • Remains mentally alert and maintains concentration with attention to detail for prolonged periods, at times under stress. Maintains adaptability, flexibility, initiative, persistence, and efficiency of time management and action.
  • Does not pose a direct threat to health or safety of self or others. Provides safe, efficient, competent care to population assigned. Meets MMC Environment of Care Standards.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:

Two (2) years’ experience in Dosimetry or related area.

 

Licensure Requirement:

Must have and maintain certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.
