Position Summary:
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a public safety professional that responds to medical emergencies in pre-hospital settings. Upon arrival, the EMT performs triage, initial survey, provides emergency care through careful assessment of the patient and recognizes injuries and illnesses. The EMT shall also gain knowledge of pre-existing medical conditions, previous medications, medical preference and identification of the patient.

Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Six (6) months of field experience on a certified ambulance.
Licensure Requirement:
Current TN license as required to perform the duties of an EMT in the State of Tennessee. Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D with an “F” endorsement for up to 14 passenger vehicles, OR a Class “A”, “B”, or “C” with “P” endorsement for 15 passenger vehicles, depending on the driving needs of the facility. Employee must have state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
