Nurse Practitioner, Perinatal CWHN LeConte 

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Variable Shifts 

 

 

Position Summary:

Provides comprehensive healthcare to a selective population of essentially healthy women. Participates in the care of women with medical complications in collaboration with Obstetrician-Gynecologists, following established medical protocols

Responsibilities

  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.
  • Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required, and adjusts processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Collaborates with physician preceptor to formulate and review medical protocols.
  • Obtains complete medical history of the patient.
  • Identifies health hazards in the patient's environment, as well as patient risk factors. Identifies and considers the cultural patterns, economic status and patient resources in plan of care.
  • Performs appropriate physical exam as indicated.
  • Obtains appropriate laboratory specimens.
  • Analyzes objective and subjective data for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
  • Assures treatment and/or plan of care is consistent with established protocols.
  • Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records and maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc. Documents all pertinent information accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner.
  • Refers patient to appropriate services which exceed scope of practice of the practitioner.
  • Provides health promotion counseling and develops patient teaching information.
  • Serves as a resource person for other staff personnel. May supervise clinical staff.
  • Responsible for periodic review of policy and procedures.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years’ experience

 

Licensure Requirement:

Current TN license. Must hold certification as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, a Nurse Midwife, or a Family Nurse Practitioner with one to two (1-2) years’ experience.   CPR required.
