Department Overview:

The Medical Unit at LeConte Medical Center is our largest with 42 spacious and modern rooms. In this unit, you will see both patients who are recovering from surgeries as well as those suffering from various illnesses, thus requiring a well-rounded knowledge base for caregivers. Position Summary:  Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Responsibilities

Position accountabilities to include but not limited to:

  • Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis.
  • Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
  • Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
  • Participates on unit-based committee/serves as council representative.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education             None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:          New graduate within 1st year of orientation.

 

Licensure Requirement:                   Valid Tennessee license. CPR required.

 

RN license
