At Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, we understand that patients in our critical care area need specialized care – not only because they are very sick, but because their medical needs are unique. In Spring 2021, the Critical Care Department at Fort Sanders Regional expanded! As part of this, we have separate Intensive Care Units – each designed to provide experienced nursing and support staff for our patients' needs.

The Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU) doubled in size, becoming a 24 total bed unit with the latest tools and equipment. After our expansion, we are now the largest NICU unit with the longest running comprehensive stroke certification in the region.

Because our hospital is a comprehensive stroke center, we provide full-cycle, cutting-edge stroke treatment, including neurosurgical procedures, and neurointerventional radiology.
