Operations Analyst

Full-Time, 80 Hours per pay period, Day Shift

Position Summary:

Under general direction, responsible for the execution of data center processes and procedures, maintaining equipment, and recording, resolving and routing IS issues in a client/server environment, ensuring uninterrupted service through identification and problem resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and controls one or more computer systems simultaneously in a client/server environment in accordance with established routines. Identify system problems and initiate corrective action 
  • Performs tasks associated with computer operating system in accordance with detailed instructions, including research, resolution, and logging of data center computer systems operational and scheduling issues. Study program operating instruction sheets to determine equipment setup and run operations. 
  • Participates in system upgrades, performs basic server administration functions. 
  • Continuously observes workflow, storage devices, printers, and the error messages and determines points of program or equipment failure. 
  • May operate auxiliary equipment directly associated with the computer systems. 
  • Maintains records regarding output units and supply inventories, performs tape librarian functions necessary to operate a shift. 
  • Manipulates controls in accordance with standard procedures to rearrange sequence of job steps to continue operations when individual units of the system malfunction. 
  • Participates in special projects and activities at the discretion of the IT management team. 
  • Provides customer relations across the range of Covenant Health IT activities including Support Services, business units and vendors. Confer with software systems engineers or applications programming personnel in the event errors require a change of instructions or sequence of operations.
  • Able to perform technical duties independently with minimal direction, escalating more complex issues to shift leader, systems analysts, or operations management as appropriate. 
  • Set task priorities with respect to "up-time", projects, and administrative duties. Train and mentor more junior staff, may provide back-up in for shift lead as required.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Education:           None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.  Preference may be given to individuals possessing an Associate’s degree in a directly-related field from an accredited college or university.

 

Minimum Experience:          Three (3) years experience in a progressive data center environment required or equivalent combination of experience in basic system administration/user support.  Requires strong knowledge of PC and server processes and operating systems that enables them to perform the highest level of computer operations functions while learning system administration.  Competent to work in all phases of computer operations.
