Intermediate Accountant
Full time, 80 hours per pay period, Day shift

Specialties include cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious disease, neurology, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, occupational medicine, orthopedic surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care, pulmonology, reproductive medicine, rheumatology, sleep medicine and urology.
Position Summary:
Under general supervision, responsible for compiling, analyzing, recording and reporting various financial/accounting data and transactions. Responsible for specific activities in budget preparation. Summarizes the results of cost and general accounting activities on a month-to-month and fiscal year basis. Prepares and issues accounting reports as well as special reports and summaries. Establishes cost comparisons to determine variances from the financial plan on cost estimates and develops factual commentary on variances. Interfaces with Covenant Health accounting staff, managers and administrators as well as external auditors and bankers. May provide work leadership for less experienced professional accountants and accounting support personnel.

Minimum Education:
B.S. in Accounting from an accredited academic program.
Minimum Experience:
Requires a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience and sound knowledge of accounting principles and techniques as well as detailed knowledge of Hospital/Covenant Health procedures and policies relating to business/finance. Demonstrated communications and computer skills (strength in Lotus) are required.
Licensure Requirement:
None. A CPA is preferable
