Environmental Services Team Lead

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Night Shift

Position Summary: Under the general supervision of department leadership, the Environmental Services Team Lead performs the same duties as a Housekeeper I and/or Housekeeper II and provides guidance in the absence of the department leadership. You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings following our established policies, procedures, and schedules to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. You'll also be responsible for stocking supplies in restrooms, appropriate hospital and related building rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods. Performs personal inspection of all tasks performed/areas assigned.
  • Assists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon request.
  • Performs daily check of assigned equipment for cleanliness and proper repair. Observes and reports the need for repairs to equipment, furnishings, buildings and fixtures.
  • Removes waste and soiled linens from work area. Places in specified containers or bags. Demonstrates proper handling of bio-hazardous wastes.
  • Practices current infection control, sanitation, and hospital safety procedures, including usage of safety equipment such as gloves, safety belt and goggles. Demonstrates knowledge and safe use of chemicals, equipment, and supplies in the daily performance of duties.
  • Monitors levels of supplies and equipment. Notifies supervisor of need for additional supplies.
  • Moves furniture and assists in setting up meeting rooms.
  • Collects trash from utility rooms and other trash collection points and transports to compactor area. Cleans trash cans and relines with plastic bags upon request. Demonstrates proper handling of bio-hazardous wastes.
  • Maintains floors, baseboards, and carpets in good condition by dust mopping, damp mopping, polishing, vacuuming, shampooing, and extracting.
  • Assists department leadership in departmental activities, both daily and special projects, including creating staffing plan. Adjusts staffing as needed to provide necessary coverage for areas of responsibility.
  • In department leadership’s absence, assures employees have pagers, assignments, supplies and equipment to do their work and that the storeroom areas are clean and organized.
  • Notifies department leadership of any significant issues or events as directed. Maintains accurate records of daily activities. Contacts customers as needed to evaluate service satisfaction.
  • Listens to customer’s needs and responds quickly and appropriately. Acts as a customer contact. Carries department pager and checks voice mail frequently to assure requests are met. Notifies customers at the beginning of the shift how to be reached.
  • Tours work areas several times to assure staff is completing assigned work.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.  Preference may be given to individuals possessing an Associate’s degree in a directly-related field from an accredited college or university.

 

Minimum Experience: 

One (1) year of environmental services experience required.
