2N is a 23 bed cardiac floor. We take patients that have heart catheterizations, pacemakers, and ablations. We take critical drips that only 2N and ICU can take. 2N is great stepping stone for nurses that want to get into ICU or the ER, but would like acute care experience first.
The Cardiology unit works as team to provide excellent care to our patients, their families, and each other. If you are ready to learn about the heart, our Cardiology unit is the place to be! Our Cardiologists will even patiently answer any questions you may have. We are a family at work and outside of work and would love to have you join our team.
Position Summary: Provide assistance to the cardiologist or cardiac surgeon in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and angiography procedures, measuring cardiovascular parameters such as cardiac output, blood flow velocity, cardiovascular dynamics, cardiac electrophysiology parameters, intracardiac shunt detection, valve flow/valve area determinations, intracardiac pressure measurements, oximetry determination, cineangiocardiography, and the measurement and calculation of cardiac function indices. The technologist assists in all phases of catheterization procedure including insertion of the catheter, operation of various electronic instruments and calculation of hemodynamic data.

Minimum Education:High school graduate supplemented by coursework in science, anatomy and physiology. Candidates must have completed either a Cardiovascular Technology program accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting body (e.g. CAAHEP, ABHES, JRC-CVT, JRC-DMS) or a formalized on-the-job cardiac catheterization training program consisting of at least 1,040 combined hours (6 months) of classroom and practical laboratory work or Hold a valid Tennessee Emergency Medical Technician license and/or hold a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) license.
Minimum Experience: 6 months experience in a health related field.
Licensure Requirement: Must have and maintain BLS certification. Have or obtain ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
