$5,000 Sign-on Bonus for Experienced LPNs

Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Night Shift 

7:00 pm - 7:00 am; Every other weekend and rotation of minor and major holiday.

 

At Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, we specialize in neurological treatment and hold the longest running comprehensive stroke certification in the region - we provide full cycle, cutting edge stroke treatment including neurosurgical procedures, and neurointerventional radiology. We are a tertiary referral center for stroke and neurological care, meaning other hospitals trust us with their most complex patients.

 

Neurological medical/surgical floor, 5 North, is located on the fifth floor of the hospital.

 

As the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in Covenant Health, we take great pride in providing exceptional care and timely treatment for our patients.

 

5 North is a 35-bed unit. We specialize and treat a wide range of neurological conditionals such as, but not limited to hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, aneurysms, subdural hematomas, post neurosurgical and interventional radiology cases.

Our team is comprised of RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and PCAs, utilizing each to the top of their scope.

We follow a 12- hour shift, weekends/holidays on a six-week schedule.

 

Team members utilize a self-scheduling software, and employee requests are then used during the scheduling process to balance and coordinate with the department’s needs.We pride ourselves in fostering a culture of positivity and teamwork. Position Summary: 

The LPN/LVN I will provide nursing care specific for stroke patients under the supervision of a registered nurse, within an assigned unit.

Responsibilities

  • Works in collaboration and under direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Initiates admission database and history, and in collaboration with the RN, implements patient and family teaching and care needs.
  • Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care using focused assessment specific for stroke patients.
  • Responsible for delivery of patient care as directed for assigned patients including medication administration, therapy, and interventions.
  • Works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support and communicate effectively with other licensed independent practitioners.
  • Practices in compliance with all regulatory standards and adheres to all hospital policies and procedures in the performance of duties.
  • Communicates the patient's condition to other care providers to initiate prompt therapy as needed.
  • Keeps patient documentation comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers.
  • Performs and prioritizes nursing care tasks to formulate daily goals and plan of care for patients.
  • Accurately follows the nursing plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration and under direction of RN.
  • Observes and reports nursing interventions and patient responses, and documents in a timely, concise, and legible manner.
  • Recognizes, responds, and reports changes in patient conditions to RN Team Leader.
  • Participates in unit specific quality assurance activities and patient care conferences as requested.
  • Demonstrates principles of infection control; collaborates with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and personnel.
  • Communicates with peers and management any safety hazards identified in the workplace.
  • Assists in orienting new employees or students to unit routines.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the stroke population served.
  • Establishes professional and respectful interpersonal relationships to create a culture of teamwork.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

None

 

Licensure Requirement:

Currently licensed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse. BLS required.
