Registered Nurse, Senior Behavioral Health

Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Night Shift

Senior Behavioral Health:

This is a very energetic and team-oriented 16 bed unit. Fast paced, extremely rewarding and builds strong critical thinking skills working with complex, challenging patients. We have developed strong collaborative relationships, both inside and outside of our unit. Working closely with various groups such as physicians, families, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, and chaplains to meet the needs of our patients around the clock. We have a great team that takes pride in the environment they work in by keeping our unit clean, orderly and organized. We take pride in creating a safe environment for both patients and staff.  Educational opportunities are always encouraged to develop best practice skills, strong knowledge base, and utilization of the best tools to address the complex needs of older adults.

 

Position Summary:

Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis. Evaluates care outcomes.
  • Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
  • Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
  • Participates on unit-based committees.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  • Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs and sitters.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:

New graduate, within first (1st) year of orientation (move to level II after one (1) Year experience).

 

 

Licensure Requirement:

Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN license. CPR required
