Therapist, Social Worker-Inpatient

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

 

Position Summary: The Program Therapist provides direct clinical services to patients modeling appropriate clinical behaviors for all direct care staff.   The Program Therapist collaborates with all member’s of treatment team including but is not limited to MD, nurse, care manager, d/c planner, utilization management, patient advocate and patient’s support system.  The therapist provides clinical supervision, guidance and developmental support for program staff, and clinical structure and guidance for the Treatment Team. The Therapist provides group, family and individual sessions for acute care patients as indicated.    

Responsibilities

  • Ensure completion of all initial assessments for assigned patient group. Completes Psychosocial History on all assigned patients.  This may include notification of other disciplines when there are noticeable omissions in the record and contacting patient’s support system to obtain additional information.
  • Assures that the Master Treatment Plan is developed within 72 hours of admission of the assigned patient population.
  • Attends all treatment teams in order to communicate with the team regarding focus and intent of assigned patients’ acute care treatment experience.
  • Ensures that all assigned patients have an individualized crisis plan developed.
  • Provides clinical oversight to assure that treatment plan interventions are followed.
  • Maintains collaboration with Admission Department to provide clinical support for initial screenings. Provides appropriate back up for assessments when there is need.
  • Provides clinical oversight of clinical case review and review of high-level interventions for assigned patients. Also assures that long term goals are included on treatment plans for those patients who surpass average length of stay.
  • Ensures that group therapy, individual therapy and family therapy coverage is provided in accordance with schedule and needs of assigned patients.
  • Provides clinical training and oversight for direct care staff conducting psychoeducation groups.
  • Makes recommendations to the Mgr, Clinical Services and Director of Nursing for continuing education needs related to clinical care.
  • Models therapeutic intervention approaches with patients for all unit patient care staff.
  • Takes an active role in identifying opportunities for improvement by making recommendations and leading process/quality improvement activities.
  • Ensures the assigned patient record is complete and meets regulatory and quality standards.
  • Is responsible to Mgr, Clinical Services to ensure that Balanced Scorecard Measure and goals for patient services are met.
  • Observes patient’s rights to confidentiality and adheres to the Covenant Health employee code of conduct.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through training and development to stay current.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Should hold a Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related mental health field.

 

Minimum Experience: Should have at least one (1) year of supervised clinical experience with adults, and a background in providing clinical supervision for mental health field workers.  Experience in group psychotherapy required.

 

Licensure Requirement: CPR required
