Position Summary: Performs physician defined routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures.  Provides support assistance/activities as needed.


  • Applies principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others; determines appropriate exposure factors and protocols.
  • Collaborating patient’s clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Completes and verifies accurate informed consents.
  • Assists in inventory control.
  • Assists in the care of equipment. Cleans area.
  • Assumes responsibility for patient needs before, during and post procedures; proactively assists patients, families, licensed independent practitioners and visitors as needed.
  • Adheres to HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality.
  • Acts as a super user for training other imaging personnel. May assist in the training and orientation of other staff.
  • May transport patients. Assists in other areas of imaging as needed.
  • Receiving, scheduling, relaying and documenting verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient’s medical record.
  • Proficient in all clerical duties, radiology information systems and PACS
  • Applies the principle of patient safety during all aspects of radiographic procedures, including double IDs, falls, transport and hand washing.
  • Assists Supervisor/Lead Tech/Manager with reports and statistics as needed.
  • Completes and verifies accurate informed consents.
  • Performs venipuncture, starts and maintains intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed dependent practitioner.
  • Educate and monitors students and other health care providers with performing exams.
  • Performing CT diagnostic and CT interventional procedures as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Proficient in patient assessment, monitoring and sterile techniques.
  • Proficient in the administration of contrast media and appropriate emergent measures.
  • Selects appropriate technical factors with consideration given to established protocols, body habitus and other factors influencing data acquisition.
  • Manipulates and reconstructs data for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Documents patient exposure/dose.
  • Assists licensed independent practitioner with interventional procedure, including time outs according to policy.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.


Minimum Experience: Must have successfully completed a radiography educational program that is accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT.


Licensure Requirement: Must have and maintain ARRT (R)  from the American Registry of Radiology Technologist and within 1 year must have an maintain ARRT (CT) or NMT certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMCTB) and within 1 year must have and maintain ARRT (CT). State licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines. CPR required.
