Gift Shop Associate, Gift Shop
Available to work nights, weekends and days as needed
This is a boutique selling flowers, unique gift items, clothing, t-shirts, purses, jewelry, signs, hats, badge reels, face masks, candy, greeting cards and many other items not found in your everyday department store or superstore. We have 5 to 6 employees, mostly PRN. Our hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. -7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Currently, we have restricted hours due to COVID-19 which are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. -5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. We’re also offering one late night a month for our night shift to be able to shop. Boutique in the Park honors our 15% employee discount (on select merchandise) to any Covenant Health employee (unless the item is on sale for more than 15% off). Payroll deduction services are available for eligible employees.Boutique in the Park has special sales throughout the year and has recently started staying open late one night each month to serve our nightshift co-workers in thanks for all they do. The gift shop also coordinates special sales like uniform sales, and jewelry sales.The ideal candidate to work in our boutique has strong customer service skills, with previous retail experience. Our associates provide a variety of duties including pricing, re-stocking, ringing up merchandise, inflating balloons, processing payroll deduction, and interacting with employees, patients and guests.
Responsible for the daily operations of the hospital Gift Shop, including maintaining the appearance and stock of the Gift Shop and providing retail cashier assistance to its customers.
Assists customers and operates cash register in courteous and efficient manner.
Maintains knowledge of merchandise and prices.
Accurately records gift shop sales.
Responds to customer requests and questions in a courteous manner. Assists customers with selections as needed.
Responsible for restocking and pricing merchandise on a regular basis.
Assists in maintenance of equipment, stock levels on candy, helium, balloons and over-the-counter medicines, and other items requested by department leader.
Maintains the appearance of the gift shop, including proper upkeep of displayed merchandise.
Processes employee payroll deductions, exchanges and refunds in an effective and efficient fashion.
Responsible for training new employees and volunteers.
Maintains an awareness of shoplifters and follows proper procedure in apprehension and arrest.
Opens and closes the store without assistance, balancing sales at days end.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience: None Retail sales and computer experience preferred. Personable with ability to multi task.
