Maintenance Technician

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period

 

Position Summary: Under limited supervision, performs facility maintenance and repair duties as required.

 

Minimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals graduating from a trade or vocational school.

  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement programs and safety standards.
  • Responsible for continuing work process when supervisor or senior technician leaves the work area.
  • Assists in the care and maintenance of department equipment.
  • Responds to emergency requests for maintenance after normal working hours.
  • Inspects completed work to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and local building codes.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
  • Performs duties in other areas of maintenance as required or requested. Responsible for documentation and record keeping of all work performed.
  • Contributes to the department's quality improvement process.
  • General Maintenance
  • Surveys facilities to find maintenance needs and set priorities. Responds to requests for general maintenance repairs within the time frame designated by the work flow coordinator. Specializes in general maintenance work orders including lighting, facility repairs, system furniture installation and window repair.
  • Boiler Room
  • Knowledge of energy building including boilers and all other components of the steam system to assure an uninterrupted supply. Monitors all utility equipment within the Energy Building.
  • Maintains Energy Building, equipment and grounds. Responds to emergency requests for maintenance after normal working hours. On second, third and weekend shifts acts as the point of contact for all maintenance requests. Assures that tomers receive proper attention to their needs.
  • Logs and maintains records of Boiler Room Pressure Vessels as required by local and state Code.
  • Knowledge of energy building including boilers and all other components of the steam system to assure an uninterrupted supply. Monitors all utility equipment within the Energy Building.
  • Maintains Energy Building, equipment and grounds. Responds to emergency requests for maintenance after normal working hours. On second, third and weekend shifts acts as the point of contact for all maintenance requests. Assures that customers receive proper attention to their needs.

 

Minimum Experience: One (1) year experience in building/plant maintenance operations, construction, or with a mechanical or electrical contractor or a graduate with certification from a trade school in a maintenance related field.

 

Licensure Requirements: Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
