Position Summary:

Performs EKGs on inpatient and outpatient units. Processes holter and event monitors to include hook-up for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Performs support activities and assistance in EKG/treadmill and other areas. Serves as a resource for inpatient staff completing EKGs on the floor


  • Performs clinical critical skills as required.
  • Cleans and maintain equipment used to perform procedures.
  • Prevents unnecessary damage and expensive repairs by using equipment carefully
  • Maintains established department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety guidelines.
  • Downloads, edits, and processes EKGs for cardiologist interpretation. Responsible for maintaining and retrieving information in MUSE
  • Responsible for the STAT EKG beeper and takes appropriate action at the bedside of critical ill patients.
  • Responsible for preparing and assisting patient for GXT testing, to include lead application, blood pressure monitoring, and completion of paperwork.
  • Places appropriate charges for procedures completed by the department with special attention to detail.
  • Provides assistance to patients with courtesy and respect.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Minimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.


Minimum Experience: Must successfully complete an approved arrhythmia recognition course during the 90-day orientation period.


Licensure Requirement: Must have and maintain CPR certification
