Surgical Technologist-Certified, Labor and Delivery
Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Night Shift
Soon-to-be a 24 bed LDRP with a level I nursery. This means the patients labor, deliver, recovery, and postpartum care will be in the same room. A level I nursery is for well babies only. Infants needing IV placement, extended assistance with oxygenation, etc., are transferred to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. We have a nurse clinician from ETCH on staff 24 hours a day to assist with any infant complications that may arise. We have 12 OB/GYN’s at Parkwest who assist their patients with delivery. We are a growing department with an average of 1900 annual deliveries.
Position Summary: Facilitates patient care by assisting physicians and nursing staff before, during and after surgical procedures by creating and maintaining a sterile field and providing the instruments and supplies required by the surgeons in a sterile manner according to the established plan of patient care. Competently performs with and/or without assistance the majority of assigned cases in a given service/shift; may perform difficult or complicated cases either with or without assistance.
Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience: None with certification.
Licensure Requirements: Must hold current and active national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification established by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
