Manager, Sterile Processing
Full-time, 80 hours per pay period, Days
On call required with 30 minute call back time
Position Summary: Works under the general supervision of the Director of Materials Management to guide and manage the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Performs all duties necessary to ensure that instrument decontamination, reprocessing and supply distribution functions are completed within hospital guidelines for cost, quality, and timeliness.
Minimum Education: Associate’s degree or technical training; however will consider candidates with a combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience: A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of directly-comparable experience expected. Staffing and scheduling experience, with extensive labor contract knowledge, a plus. Must be familiar with all applicable the Joint Commission regulations specific to the decontam, sterilization, storage, and handling of instrumentation and supplies. Must be familiar with the AAMI guidelines and recommended practices for the decontam, sterilization, storage and handling of instrumentation and supplies. Must be familiar with the APEC guidelines for the proper infection control techniques used in the department. Must be familiar with the operating guidelines established by AORN for the operating room.
Licensure Requirements: Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician.
