Patient Care Assistant- Pulmonary Unit
PRN/OCC, Shifts Vary as Needed (Minimum requirements: One (1) 12 hour shift per pay period, One weekend per six week schedule)
The Pulmonary Unit: 7 North at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is a 35-bed complex medical nursing unit with telemetry capabilities. We care for simple and complex patients with a variety of diagnoses.
Position Summary: Functions as a direct patient caregiver performing tasks to assist registered nurses. Performs hands-on care, assistance with ADL’s and specified technical tasks for a group of patients under the supervision of the Team Leader.
Minimum Experience: Hospital experience preferred. Medical terminology a plus. Must be able to operate computer and possess excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to read with comprehension, write legibly, and perform basic arithmetic computation. Must have understanding and knowledge of patient care which may be appropriately delegated to nursing assistants.
Licensure Requirement: Nursing Assistant certification from state of Tennessee preferred. CPR required. Must successfully complete Covenant’s orientation and Nursing Assistant in-house training program before being permitted to work with patients.
