    Patient Care Assistant- Oncology - GYN - Surgery

     

    Full-time, 72 hours per pay period, Day shift

     

    General Surgery/Oncology is embarking on a quest to be the best!  We are the largest inpatient unit in Covenant Health with a total of 44 beds. We are a high-volume, predominantly post-surgical unit.   It is fast paced with a broad range of surgical service lines including general surgery and gynecological surgery. We also serve the Oncology population on 4 Riverstone with dedicated Oncology patient rooms and Chemotherapy Certified Nurses. Our Oncology program is credentialed by the Commission on Cancer. We have a modified method of self scheduling, 12 hour shifts, minimum of two weekends in a 6-week schedule required, and rotated holiday requirements.  We are committed to excellence on 4 Riverstone and hold a high standard of care for our patients, as evidenced by our 5-star awards for quality of nursing care. We are looking for strong, professional nurses with a commitment to quality care, stellar clinical skills, and patient-centered compassion.

     

    Position Summary: Functions as a direct patient caregiver performing tasks to assist registered nurses.  Performs hands-on care, assistance with ADL’s and specified technical tasks for a group of patients under the supervision of the Team Leader.

     

    Minimum Education:None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

     

    Minimum Experience: Hospital experience preferred. Medical terminology a plus. Must be able to operate computer and possess excellent interpersonal skills.  Must be able to read with comprehension, write legibly, and perform basic arithmetic computation. Must have understanding and knowledge of patient care which may be appropriately delegated to nursing assistants. 

     

    Licensure Requirement: Nursing Assistant certification from state of Tennessee preferred. CPR required. Must successfully complete Covenant’s orientation and Nursing Assistant in-house training program before being permitted to work with patients.
