    Supervisor of Nursing Unit for Capacity and Float Pool

    Exempt - Full-time - Nights (3PM-11PM)



    Position Summary:

    Assists Nurse Manager with the delivery of high quality nursing care and administrative management of Capacity and Float Pool services. Fulfills all duties and responsibilities associated with the Nurse Supervisor position.


    1. Models the standards and behaviors of Covenant Health.
    2. Assists in selection, training, orienting, developing and evaluating the performance of the department staff. 
    3. Supports established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement initiatives, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Works with manager to ensure compliance with the Joint Commission standards, federal and state guidelines, and nursing standards and practices.
    4. Maintains operational reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
    5. Assists with coordination and reporting of nursing activities performed on behalf of the patient.
    6. Attends meetings and actively participates on nursing committees and interdisciplinary committees, as assigned by Nurse Manager.
    7. Establishes and maintains communication between the nursing unit, medical staff and ancillary departments for the purposes of problem solving and quality improvement. Utilizes appropriate lines of communication within the facility.
    8. Assists with establishment and implementation of unit goals and objectives are in alignment with the facility and system.
    9. Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care utilizing evidenced based practices.
    10. Protects patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
    11. Supervises, institutes, and evaluates nursing interventions and documentation.
    12. Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
    13. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, knowledge of current literature, in-service meetings, workshops, and membership of a professional organization.
    14. Works collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective.
    15. Strives to achieve high customer satisfaction by using Journey to Excellence tactics including but not limited to, AIDET, bedside shift report, purposeful hourly rounding, careboard completion, narrating the care, etc.
    16. Facilitates professional development of staff.
    17. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by Nurse Manager or other senior leaders.


    Minimum Education:  Graduate of accredited nursing program required; possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field preferred (required within 3 years in position or effective date of job description).
    Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of recent clinical experience. 
    Licensure Requirement: Current TN state registered nurse license.
