    Clinical Nurse I- Oncology


    Full time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Night Shift  (7 p.m- 7:30 a.m, Every other weekend)


    Oncology (8N) is a 34 bed unit including 8 semi-private rooms and 4 neutropenic rooms. The Oncology unit of any hospital requires a certain type of staff member – people that understand the joys of life and the hardships that sometimes accompany it. Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center partners with the Thompson Cancer Survival Center and the Thompson Oncology Physician Group to care for our cancer patients. Chemotherapy treatments are provided on unit. Patient population is comprised of medical/surgical, hospice and palliative care, and oncology patients. The nurse to patient ratio on this unit is 1:5.


    Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center believes in being a well-rounded nurse and we offer our new graduates classroom and 14 weeks of on-unit training with a preceptor. Covenant Health offers a Nurse Residency Program to new graduates to provide support during the first year as a new nurse. In addition, we encourage hospital and unit-based Shared Governance participation to challenge nurses to utilize evidence-based practice at the bedside.


    Position Summary: Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.


    Minimum Experience: New graduate, within first (1st) year of orientation (move to level II after one (1) Year experience).


    Licensure Requirement:  Valid Tennessee RN license. Fire/security, infection control, and CPR inservices are required.
