    Medical Laboratory Technician, General Laboratory

     

    PRN/Occasional, Shift hours vary based upon need

    Job Objectives: Responsible for performing routine tests in blood bank, serology-urinalysis, coagulation, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology sections of the laboratory

     

    Education/Knowledge/Skills: Must have an Associate Degree or equivalent.  Must possess knowledge obtained by formal education, previous experience, or on-the-job-training of instruments and quality control methods for those procedures assigned.  Must possess knowledge of blood bank, hematology, serology, urinalysis, chemistry, and microbiology obtained by formal education.  Must possess effective communication and public relation skills.

    For staff involved in the care of age-specific groups, knowledge of the bio-psychosocial needs of adult, geriatric and pediatric patients is essential.  Special knowledge is required in growth and development needs of pediatric/geriatric patients where applicable

     

    Experience: Hospital experience is preferred

     

    Licensure/Certifications: Must be licensed in the State of Tennessee as a medical Laboratory technician. Registration with American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent preferred.
