Patient Care Assistant- Float Pool

 

Full Time, 72 hours per pay period, Day Shift

 

The Float Pool provides premium compensation targeted to attract highly skilled RNs. This department has core staffing for Critical Care Pods, Med-Surg Pods, Oncology Pods, and more. An additional differential for float pool is provided. This internal agency will provide staffing coverage for licensed and non-licensed staff including RNs, LPNs, and CNA`s to nursing units that have need of additional staffing. This agency serves to provide quality patient care while meeting the goals and values of the organization. Must be able to work well as a team with staff on floors and be able to work well independently when needed. Opportunity to train for specialty areas, i.e. critical care, emergency, and women`s services. Must be willing to work all nursing areas if needed to supplement staffing needs.

 

Position Summary:  Functions as a direct patient caregiver performing tasks to assist registered nurses.  Performs hands-on care, assistance with ADL’s and specified technical tasks for a group of patients under the supervision of the Team Leader.

 

Minimum Experience: Hospital experience preferred. Medical terminology a plus. Must be able to operate computer and possess excellent interpersonal skills.  Must be able to read with comprehension, write legibly, and perform basic arithmetic computation. Must have understanding and knowledge of patient care which may be appropriately delegated to nursing assistants. Must successfully complete Covenant's orientation and Nursing Assistant in-house training program before being permitted to work with patients.

 

Licensure Requirements:   Nursing Assistant certification from state of Tennessee preferred. CPR required.
