Position: Nurse Manager
Dept: L&D and Newborn Nursery
Is accountable for the delivery of high quality nursing care and for the administrative management of nursing administration. Fulfills all duties and responsibilities associated with the Nurse Manager position. Manages float pool, house supervisor, and sitter personnel directly. Coordinates the agency staffing provided by Covenant Staffing Services. Oversees the Kronos scheduling process and provides for timely posting and reviewing of schedule for nursing.
Models the standards and behaviors of Covenant Health. Selects, trains, orients, develops and evaluates performance of the department staff. Ensures staffing mix and allocation in accordance with departmental guidelines. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement initiatives, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Ensures compliance with JCAHO standards, federal and state guidelines, and nursing standards and practices.
Develops departmental budgets. Administers operations in accordance with budgeted parameters. Maintains operational reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes. Coordinates and reports outcome of nursing activities performed on behalf of the patient. Attends meetings and actively participates on nursing committees and interdisciplinary committees, as appropriate. Establishes and maintains communication between the nursing unit, medical staff and ancillary departments for the purposes of problem solving and quality improvement. Utilizes appropriate lines of communication within the facility. Ensures establishment and implementation of unit goals and objectives are in alignment with the facility and system. Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care utilizing evidenced based practices. Protects patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications. Supervises, institutes, and evaluates nursing interventions and documentation. Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, knowledge of current literature, in-service meetings, workshops, and membership of a professional organization. Works collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective. Facilitates professional development of staff with accountability for staff retention. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Experience in Labor & Delivery and Newborn Nursery. At least 3 years of recent clinical experience. At least 2 years of leadership/managerial experience preferred.
Minimum Education: Graduate of accredited nursing program; possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field preferred (required within 3 years in position).
Must have active TN RN license.
